Dr. Skrha is a physician at the 3rd Department of Internal Medicine at General University Hospital and Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He studied medicine at the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. Until graduation in 2009 he studied effects of glucose metabolites on mitochondrial energetics at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry. Afterwards, he underwent his training in Internal Medicine, which was completed in 2014. All along, he has been clinically and scientifically active in the field of diabetology. In his postgraduate study he has been concerned in the pathobiochemistry of diabetes vascular complications focusing on advanced glycation and its early detection. In 2012 he participated in the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Young Scientists Training Course in Barcelona. His scientific work has been presented on many congresses worldwide and published in both local and international scientific journals. He is a recipient of several awards – e.g. Czech Internal Society award on Young Internists’ Days in 2014, Jaroslav Páv Award of the Czech Diabetes Society for the best publication in 2012, Best Abstract and Poster Award at the Diabetology meeting in Luhačovice 2011, Best Abstracts Award at the international CODHy Congress in Prague 2010. He has been actively participating in several research grants and projects. Moreover, he has been very active in teaching of medical students. -
